ORLANDO, Fla. – Bio-Tech Consulting Inc., a full-service environmental consulting firm headquartered in Orlando, Fla. and serving clients throughout the state and Southeastern United States, today announced that it was responsible for all facets of the environmental permitting process involved in Consolidated-Tomoka Land Co.’s recent sale of nearly 40 acres of land near Daytona Beach, Fla. to Tanger Factory Outlet Centers Inc. Located along I-95 just south of LPGA Boulevard, the land is slated for construction of a 350,000 sq. ft. upscale shopping outlet with approximately 80-90 stores.
Since 2014, Bio-Tech Consulting managed the comprehensive environmental permitting effort, which included wetland delineation, wildlife surveys, mitigation assessments, and permitting efforts across multiple local, state and federal agencies including the St. Johns River Water Management District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Environmental Protection Agency.
Upon investigation and throughout their research, Bio-Tech Consulting’s team of biologists determined the areas of impact for this site were isolated remnant forested wetland areas located within an actively managed agricultural operation.
“For this project, we found our approach and results to be quite different than our competitors,” said John Miklos, president of Bio-Tech Consulting. “We determined that the land value was greater than the ecological value of these remnant wetland systems – and the local, state and federal agencies involved agreed with our conclusions. This was beneficial to the client and meant less-significant ecological impact for the area.”
